Online storage has some great features such as being accessible virtually anywhere, being out of sight, expandability and more but these features do come along with some extra baggage such as slow uploading speeds. Below is my review of some online storage solutions.

Box.net Screenshot

Box.net is best described as file-sharing app, Here are a few good things that caught my eye. OS Independent, any modern OS can use Box.net via it’s web browser. Collaborative, Box.net has some nice features that make it easy to share files such as a nifty widget for your website. Easy-to-use, so easy your grandmother could use it. Here are a few of the bad things about the service, Expensive, in quantity (roughly 1.33 USD per gigabyte), Web-interface only, accessible only from the web-interface.

Mozy Screenshot

Mozy is an online backup system. Here are a few good things that caught my eye. It’s out of sight, you don’t have to worry about drives failing or managing multiple drives. Simplified backup’s, install their backup software and your all set. Secure, your data is either stored with Mozy’s provided encryption key or you can make you own for an extra layer of security, Unlimited storage, backup as much as you like at a standard rate. Here are a few of the bad things about the service, no Linux support, no web-browser file browser only 2gb of free storage space.

Amazon S3 Screenshot

Amazon S3 is a service for users with advanced needs, those who don’t need a middleman. It is a web hosting service, image hosting service, back-up system, and more. Here are a few good things that caught my eye. Unlimited storage, have some big files to store or a lot of little files Amazon S3 is for you. Simplicity, whether you backing up your personal files or hosting files for a popular web site. Cheap, only $0.15 per GB/Month of storage used and you only have to pay for what you use. Here are a few of the bad things about the service, I really can’t think of any right now.

You just happened to have reached my tiny corner of the Universe. [...]
