I have received a invitation to GrandCentral, Google’s newest acquisition. Basically GrandCentral allows you to forward your incoming calls to all of your phones, so you can pick up any of your phones. A more complicated explanation instructs you to set-up a number with GrandCentral, then you direct all your calls to this new number, GrandCentral then forwards the calls to your different phones. Other than the basics GrandCentral has many features such as phone spam filtering, waiting music, visual voicemail and more. Here is a quick overview of what I have found to be of importance.

Import your contacts from Outlook, Outlook Express, a CSV file, a vCard file, Yahoo Contacts, or Gmail Contacts. Its a tad surprising GrandCentral allows you to import from Yahoo since they are now part of Google. ;-)

The address book is almost intuitive allowing you to make outgoing calls to your contacts from your GrandCentral number. Everything is not perfect yet though.

GrandCentral allows you to take a look at you voicemail before you play it. This is a nice way to sort through your voicemail by priority.

Phone spam filtering is an incredibly useful feature for killing stopping those nasty tele-marketers from calling you, during dinner.

Last but not least on my list of nifty features is RingShare. RingShare enables you to change the boring “Ring Ring” sound to anything from the RingShare gallery.
My overall impression from what I learnt about GrandCentral. It is a solution to the problem that has been around since the invention of the phone. Plus some extra features of course. Do you want a Invitation to GrandCentral? Bookmark this on del.icio.us and send me a comment with a link to your del.icio.us. Invites will be sent to the first three people who comment with the del.icio.us link. Have fun!
